I wanted to create a sword that would provide a moderate challenge. So I chose to model an Egyptian Khopesh. The strong curve of the blade, alongside the decorative guard, handle, and pommel all offered interesting shapes to work with. Stylistically, I chose make it a royal sword - with a Damascus Steel blade, gold and silver spine and handle, and inlaid wooden handle.
I created four procedural materials for the Khopesh: Damascus Steel, Gold, Silver, and Wood.
Although my materials do not rely upon UVs, I ensured that UVs were mapped in case I wanted to add and sculpting or other embellishments at a later date.
