To maintain engagement during the typically slower summer months, we developed a campaign to encourage prospects to get a demo, in exchange for the potential to win prizes in bi-weekly drawings. We chose to go for a more exciting graphic style, utilizing 3D animation. Below are a few highlights that were designed for social media.
I used Blender to model and texture everything. I did all final compositing and additional animation in After Effects. For the grill scene, the burger patties used procedural materials, while the grass was generated with a hair simulation system.
The pool scene required more finesse than the grill scene. The floaties were initially modeled, and then further sculpted. The bottom of the pool used mixed procedural materials to create the tile pattern on the steps and Popmenu logo. The surface of the water used an ocean simulator to drive the water and the movement of the floaties on the surface. The caustics were created using a projected light pattern, further distorted with an animated noise texture.
